The Beck Theatre is delighted to announce that Strictly star and glamorous magician Debbie McGee will star in this year’s dream of a family pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, from Friday 6 December 2019.

The lovely Debbie McGee has entertained and endeared herself to TV audiences across the country for many years as the glamourous assistant of the magician Paul Daniels. More recently, she dazzled as a celebrity contestant on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, regularly achieving top scores and wowing the judging panel every week with her fancy footwork, waltzing her way into the hotly contended final. Debbie and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice won Best Performance in the National Reality TV Awards for their performances on the show. Debbie went on to appear in the Strictly Come Dancing Live Arena Tour with her other recent television appearances including Carry on Barging; The Pilgrimage; Would I lie To You; Strictly The Best; The Price Of Fame; Impossible Celebrities; The Chase; Pointless; Loose Women; Good Morning Britain; and The One Show.

For many years, Debbie worked alongside her husband Paul Daniels in his award winning BBC1 TV show The Paul Daniels Magic Show. Together they appeared all over the world and on hundreds of TV shows. In 2017, Debbie became the first woman to be awarded the coveted Maskelynne Award from The Magic Circle for services to British magic, an honour Paul Daniels was himself awarded in 1988. Since 2008, Debbie has also been a radio DJ, presenting her own show on BBC Radio Berkshire.
Sleeping Beauty’s Executive Producer Daryl Back said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Debbie will be bringing her magic to the Beck Theatre this Christmas and leading the cast of our wonderful pantomime. This year’s production promises much laughter, audience participation and an enchanting atmosphere for our Hayes audiences – we feel sure it will be the pantomime of their dreams!”

Sleeping Beauty marks Debbie McGee’s return to the Beck Theatre, having previously starred alongside her husband Paul Daniels in the 2004 pantomime Beauty and the Beast.

Sleeping Beauty runs at the Beck Theatre from Friday 6 to Sunday 29 December 2019.
