Following on from last year’s smash hit Cinderella, Crewe Lyceum has announced that legendary double act Cannon & Ball will star in this year’s magical pantomime adventure Aladdin.
In a career which has spanned more than fifty years, Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball are best known for the legendary comedy variety show The Cannon & Ball Show, which ran for over nine years on ITV1 featuring their classic comedy routines and trademark catchphrases. They subsequently starred in their own sitcoms Cannon & Ball’s Playhouse and Plaza Patrol and had their own gameshow Cannon & Ball’s Casino.
In addition to their television work the duo headlined their own comedy shows, summer seasons, plays and pantomimes across the UK and broke box office records for two West End residencies at the Dominion Theatre and the London Palladium.
Their further television credits also include competing on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Coach Trip and the much-loved pair have both starred in Last of the Summer Wine and Heartbeat.
With prolific pantomime careers that have spanned the decades Bobby and Tommy will play PC Bobby and PC Tommy ensuring the streets of Old Peking are safe from the clutches of the evil sorcerer Abanazar and allowing the handsome hero Aladdin to win the hand of the beautiful Princess in an unmissable pantomime adventure.
Aladdin is produced by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, and brings the spectacular comedy, music, dancing, scenery and special effects that the Crewe Lyceum audiences have come to expect each festive season.
Executive Producer of Aladdin Jonathan Kiley said: “We are delighted to be bringing Bobby and Tommy to lead our cast in Crewe this year. With their amazing comedy routines they are true masters of pantomime and guaranteed to have the audience in hysterics with their quick wit and catchphrases. Aladdin is guaranteed to be a laugh-out-loud spectacle that Crewe theatregoers won’t want to miss.”
Theatre Director for Crewe Lyceum Theatre, Gordon Millar said: “We are thrilled to have Cannon and Ball packing this year’s Lyceum pantomime full of laughter and giggles.
