Qdos Entertainment Relaxed Performances, continuing its commitment to sharing the magic of panto

Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, in partnership with theatres across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, have been at the forefront of staging Relaxed Performances since 2015 allowing audiences of all abilities to enjoy the magic of pantomime every festive season.

The 2017/18 season will see audiences from across the United Kingdom experience pantomime, some for the very first time, in over 30 of their productions packed full of laughter, special effects and spellbinding fun in a setting suitable for everyone, for audiences as far north as Aberdeen to Plymouth in the south.

Audiences attending these Relaxed Performances will enjoy all the magic, sparkle and lavish production values a Qdos pantomime offers, with modified elements to suit the sensory and access needs of patrons and catered towards people with special needs or those who may otherwise find attending the theatre challenging. Regardless of patrons’ needs, Qdos and its partner theatres are committed to creating an environment that welcomes them to experience live theatre and the magic of pantomime with their friends, families and school groups.

In working closely with each partner theatre and each pantomime company, each production is modified to adapt its suitability for audience members. House lighting is often kept on to allow patrons to feel more comfortable or move about the auditorium, volume levels are reduced so there are no loud bangs, interaction between the stage and the audience is revised and certain language is modified. Partner theatres also encourage talking and noise in the auditorium without judgement, often creating spaces for patrons to have some time away from the production if they wish and create visual stories sent out to patrons in advance in order for them to become familiar with what they can expect at a pantomime performance.

Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Entertainment: “I’m delighted we’ve been at the forefront of staging Relaxed Performances of our pantomimes, and as our venues have increased for the 2017/18 season it’s wonderful we can extend the number of Relaxed Performances across our season to allow a much wider audience to enjoy one of our shows. They’re also a wonderful opportunity for families with very small children to experience pantomime for the first time in an environment where noise and movement doesn’t matter, it’s all part of the fun and we encourage it.”

This year Relaxed Performances will take place in: Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre, the Grand Opera House Belfast, Birmingham Hippodrome, Bradford Alhambra, Bristol Hippodrome, Churchill Theatre Bromley, Cardiff New Theatre, Darlington Hippodrome, Orchard Theatre Dartford, Edinburgh Kings, Wycombe Swan, Hull New Theatre, Liverpool Empire, Venue Cymru Llandudno, Manchester Opera House, Milton Keynes Theatre, Newcastle Theatre Royal, Royal and Derngate Northampton, Nottingham Theatre Royal, Plymouth Theatre Royal, Richmond Theatre, Mayflower Theatre Southampton, Cliffs Pavilion Southend, Regent Theatre Stoke-on-Trent, Swansea Grand, New Wimbledon Theatre, New Victoria Theatre Woking and Wolverhampton Grand.
