Venue Cymru has announced that international pop legend Jimmy Osmond will star in this year’s magical family pantomime Cinderella. Jimmy takes on the role of Cinderella’s father – Baron Hardup.
The youngest of the world-famous Osmond dynasty, Jimmy’s love for musical theatre has seen him appear in the West End production of Grease and then go on to star as Billy Flynn in the UK national tour of the smash-hit musical Chicago. He has also appeared in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jimmy’s Osmond’s American Jukebox and he has just recently finished an extensive UK tour of Boogie Nights - the 70s Musical.
As well as his time on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, Jimmy has appeared on numerous television programmes including Celebrity Come Dine With Me, All Star Family Fortunes and Saturday Kitchen. On top of the many world tours and records he has made with his siblings, Jimmy has six gold records to his credit and was the youngest ever solo chart-topper with his hit, Long-Haired Lover From Liverpool, which he recorded when he was nine in 1972!
Llandudno panto stalwart and funny man John Evans, returns for his eight consecutive pantomime at Venue Cymru. John’s talent has seen him become a firm favourite with Llandudno audiences over the years. John will play our unsung hero Buttons.
Venue Cymru and Qdos Entertainment are also delighted to announce the first-ever ‘relaxed performance’ of a pantomime for families with children with special needs on Friday 2 January at 1.00pm. A ‘relaxed performance’ offers children with autistic, sensory and communication difficulties a more relaxed environment in which to watch Cinderella. Some of the loud and bright elements of the production will be toned down to cater to the children’s sensitivities. There will also be allocated areas in the theatre for children who need to leave the auditorium to chill out.
Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Entertainment’s pantomime division and Executive Producer of Cinderella, said: “We are thrilled that Jimmy Osmond and John Evans have agreed to
join us in Cinderella this Christmas. Venue Cymru’s pantomime will be bigger and better than ever this year. The story of Cinderella will be brought magically to life in this spectacular production packed with
comedy, feature sensational musical numbers along with stunning sets and beautiful costumes in an unmissable show which is ideal entertainment for all ages.”
Richard Jones, Marketing Manager for Venue Cymru said: “Llandudno is set for a fantastic panto season with Jimmy Osmond and John Evans, we are looking forward to be working with such a fantastic headline cast to truly ensure that Venue Cymru’s panto is once again the best in the region. Jimmy is a huge household name and we are thrilled to have him with us for Cinderella. People will certainly choose Venue Cymru as their No 1 Christmas treat this year so get in there quick!”
Cinderella will be staged by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s largest pantomime producer, and the company behind Venue Cymru’s record-breaking production last year. Cinderella will be an enchanting tale where spells are cast and dreams can come true.
